According to Sulaiman Idris, the governor’s media aide, the APCs and drones were presented to troops on Wednesday at the Government House in Gusau. Lawal highlighted the importance of the equipment in protecting soldiers in high-risk areas, improving reconnaissance, and enhancing coordination between command centres and field units.

The 80-metre endurance drones can cover 50 kilometres and operate continuously for eight hours, expanding aerial surveillance capabilities and situational awareness.

The state government also supplied 150 new Hilux vehicles to security agencies, including the police, DSS, and NSCDC, along with 20 Toyota Buffaloes (10 armoured, 10 soft-skin) and over 600 specialised motorcycles for rapid response in difficult terrain. Additionally, 60 vehicles and motorcycles were provided to community protection guards to strengthen grassroots intelligence and early warning.

Governor Lawal noted that these measures are part of a structured security framework under the Zamfara State Security Trust Fund, ensuring legal clarity, operational coordination, and logistical support for security agencies.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Defence Christopher Musa commended the governor for prioritising public safety and described the state’s approach as a model that could transform Zamfara’s security landscape.
