DAVIDO DELETES CONTROVERSIAL ANTI-APC POSTS FOLLOWING TINUBU’S OSUN ELECTION DEFEAT

Davido deletes controversial posts about Tinubu, Osun politics

Afrobeats superstar Davido has deleted two politically charged posts that generated widespread reactions on social media on Saturday, August 15, 2026, leaving fans and political observers speculating about the reason behind the move.

In one of the deleted posts, the singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, said his family would no longer support any presidential candidate. He also tagged his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Another screenshot circulating online showed a separate post apparently directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in which Davido wrote: “U no try @officialABAT.”

Both posts were deleted shortly after they were published. However, screenshots had already been widely shared, allowing the comments to spread across social media.

Why the deleted posts attracted attention

Davido’s close ties to Osun State politics have made his public political comments a subject of significant interest, particularly because Governor Ademola Adeleke is his uncle.

The governor’s relationship with the Tinubu administration has also attracted public attention, especially following Adeleke’s re-election in the August 15 Osun governorship election and his subsequent endorsement of Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

Against this backdrop, Davido’s statement suggesting that his family would no longer support a presidential candidate, coupled with his apparent criticism of Tinubu, triggered speculation about whether there was a disagreement over the family’s political position.

The singer has previously been vocal about political issues and has attracted attention for his involvement in Osun-related political discussions.

Although Davido has not publicly explained why he deleted the posts, their removal has continued to fuel discussions among followers who had been closely watching his political stance.

The deleted tweets have also raised questions about whether the singer intends to clarify his position or whether the posts were made in the heat of the moment.
