The Delta Past Student Leaders Community (DPSLC), also known as the Comrade Community, has called for the immediate resignation of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, over what it described as the worsening security situation in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by its President, Comrade Akpotoboro Oghenemaro, and Public Relations Officer, Comrade Peter Yisah, the group expressed concern over what it termed the continued decline in national security under Ribadu’s leadership.

The organisation alleged that incidents of kidnapping, banditry, and violent attacks have increased across various parts of the country, with little visible improvement in the protection of lives and property.
It noted that abductions for ransom have become more frequent, making interstate travel increasingly unsafe, while rural communities continue to suffer repeated attacks by armed groups.
The group also highlighted growing concerns over attacks on schools, saying such incidents have disrupted education and caused distress among families.

It referenced a recent abduction incident in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, where pupils and teachers were reportedly kidnapped during a coordinated attack.
DPSLC further stated that recurring violent raids and killings have forced many residents to flee their homes, with thousands now living in displacement camps and farmers abandoning agricultural activities due to insecurity.

The group said it had lost confidence in the ability of the Office of the National Security Adviser to effectively coordinate Nigeria’s security architecture, urging a change in leadership to restore public trust and improve national safety.
It also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reassess the country’s security leadership, warning that persistent insecurity could negatively affect public perception ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The organisation stressed the need for a more effective and accountable security strategy, adding that criminal groups appear to operate with increasing boldness despite existing intelligence and surveillance efforts.
DPSLC emphasized that its position was based on concern for national stability and the protection of citizens, not personal or political interests, and urged the government to prioritise competence in security appointments.
