Former senator Dino Melaye has hailed the leadership of EFCC for accepting his petition against Governor Yahaya Bello – Melaye made this known via a tweet on Wednesday, March 31 – According to him, the anti-graft agency showed competence on how the petition is being handled.
The battle between the former lawmaker who represented the Kogi West senatorial district at the Senate during the eight National Assembly, Dino Melaye, and the sitting governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, is far from being over.
HEADLINENEWS.NEWS reports that the former senator and his group, the Anti Corruption Network on Wednesday, March 31, visited the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Abuja to submit more evidence against Governor Bello.
In a tweet made by Melaye after the submission of the petition, the activist expressed satisfaction about the investigation by the EFCC.
He tweeted: “Anti Corruption Network team after adopting our petition at the EFCC HQ today. We submitted additional evidence against Yahaya Bello. We are satisfied with EFCC investigation so far. Alot has been achieved.
The senator disclosed that additional evidence was submitted.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Abdulrasheed Bawa, the chairman of the EFCC, said he would resign from office if he’s asked to do anything against the law. It was reported that the anti-graft agency said Bawa stated this on Friday, March 27, when he featured on One-on-One, a programme on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
The EFCC boss said Nigerians need to stop “worshipping people that have money”, and start questioning the sources of their wealth.
He said he would not do anything contrary to his conscience. Bawa promised to continue to do what is right, noting that the EFCC under his watch will continue to abide by the rule of law.
In a related report, Governor Yahaya Bello’s presidential ambition received a great boost as the Forum of North Central legislators on Monday, March 29, demanded that the presidency be zoned to the region in 2023. The convener of the forum and former speaker, Niger state House of Assembly, Marata Gumi, made the demand while reading the communique issued at the end of the forum meeting held in Abuja.
