#Driving Nigeria’s Sustainable Energy Transition: Oyakhire’s Commitment.

GE Vernova, a multinational company dedicated to advancing electrification and decarbonization, has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating Nigeria’s sustainable energy transition.

This commitment was reiterated during an Energy Dialogue held in Lagos, where the company outlined its objectives across key operating segments such as power (including gas, nuclear, hydro, and steam), wind (both onshore and offshore), and electrification (encompassing transmission, distribution, conversion, storage, and orchestration of electricity).

Speaking at the event, Kenneth Oyakhire, Managing Director of Services for GE Vernova’s Gas Power division, emphasized the company’s enduring relationship with Nigeria and its dedication to crafting localized solutions to bolster the nation’s power infrastructure.

Julie LeBlanc, United States Mission Commercial Counselor, highlighted the leadership of American companies, like GE Vernova, in renewable energy and their commitment to upholding high standards of transparency, quality, and social responsibility.

Nigeria, a significant economic force in Africa, grapples with a dynamic energy landscape marked by population growth, industrialization, and increasing electricity demand. To address these challenges, GE Vernova convened the Nigeria Energy Dialogue, bringing together government officials, financiers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to discuss policy initiatives, technological advancements, and collaborative efforts aimed at fostering a sustainable energy ecosystem.

GE Vernova’s support for Nigeria’s power sector includes recent projects such as the construction of the Gwagwalada Independent Power Plant and the commissioning of hydropower turbines for the Zungeru hydropower project. With a century-long presence in Nigeria, GE Vernova contributes to over half of the nation’s power supply and serves various sectors, including utilities, independent power plants, oil and gas, cement, and others.

Globally, GE Vernova plays a significant role in electricity generation, contributing to approximately 30% of the world’s electricity production.Breaking news HeadlineHeadline news
