Bashir, the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has criticized Governor Uba Sani for incompetence and poor performance in response to remarks made by Governor Sani about the previous administration.
During a town hall meeting in Kaduna, Governor Sani disclosed that he inherited a substantial debt burden, including $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities, from the El-Rufai administration. He highlighted how this debt was impacting the state’s finances, with a significant portion of the federal allocation being used to service it.
In a series of posts on social media platform X, Bashir accused Governor Sani of surrounding himself with incompetent aides chosen for political reasons. He questioned the wisdom of spending billions on projects like a banquet hall while lamenting about inherited debt.
Bashir’s comments have sparked a debate among supporters of both governors, with some defending Governor Sani and others criticizing the current administration’s handling of the state’s finances.
