#FAAN Inducts 201New Aviation Security Cadets

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has recently welcomed 201 new aviation security cadets as part of its initiative to address the 21st-century challenges associated with airport and passenger management.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos, Faithful Hope-Ivbaze (Mrs.), Ag. Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at FAAN, announced that the Managing Director of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, revealed this development during her address at the passing-out parade ceremony held for the newly-recruited Aviation Security Cadets at the Digital Bridge Institute.

The STP 123 Course, a residential training program lasting eight weeks, has been carefully crafted to facilitate the seamless integration of new cadets into the Civil Aviation Industry. Its primary goal is to equip them with the skills to proactively implement, monitor, and enforce aviation security measures in compliance with locally approved regulations.

Mrs. Kuku emphasized in her speech that the training is a crucial step taken by the agency to ensure the overall safety of airports. She stated, “This ceremony not only marks a significant milestone in your careers but also in the journey of FAAN towards bolstering the nation’s aviation security. It is also one of our strategic responses to the increase in the volume of passengers using our airports.”

Addressing the cadets directly, Mrs. Kuku urged them to apply the knowledge gained during the training program and to embody the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. She stressed that globally, aviation business relies heavily on security and safety, making the aviation security department critical to passenger facilitation and airport operations.

During the event, the MD/CE expressed gratitude on behalf of FAAN’s management and staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, and Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, for their unwavering support and encouragement.

The ceremony was attended by heads and representatives of various aviation parastatals and security agencies, including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Nigerian Meteorological Agency, the Nigerian Police Force, the State Security Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Port Health Service, among others.
