The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has publicly addressed the circumstances surrounding his death for the first time.
In a statement released on Instagram on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, the family confirmed that the actor passed away on May 11 at Evercare Hospital in Lekki, Lagos.
They also debunked rumours circulating online that he died from Stage 4 liver cancer, clarifying that his death resulted from complications linked to advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
According to the family, the actor faced his illness with courage, faith, and hope despite the difficult battle. They described him as a devoted husband, son, brother, and friend who remained strong throughout his health challenges.
The statement noted that Alexx believed his recovery story would eventually become a testimony shared with the world.
The family further requested privacy and prayers as they continue to mourn his passing, adding that funeral arrangements would be announced later.
They also appreciated fans, friends, and supporters for the love, prayers, and encouragement shown during the difficult period.
