The Federal Government has directed oil marketers to engage in negotiations with the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) to prevent the planned suspension of nationwide petroleum product lifting operations.
Oil marketers and NARTO executives have met multiple times recently to address the concerns of petroleum products’ transporters, who had threatened to halt operations due to the high cost of diesel.
The government plans to meet with NARTO members and other stakeholders on Monday in Abuja to discuss and resolve the issues. Meanwhile, independent marketers are alarmed by the falling naira, which may increase the pump price of petrol.
