The summit, hosted by the Lagos State Government in collaboration with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, drew participation from government officials, international investors, diplomats, and corporate executives from various sectors.

During discussions, the federation highlighted key objectives surrounding the championship, including the development of sustainable sports infrastructure, expanding opportunities for young athletes through grassroots programmes, strengthening women’s participation and leadership in sports, and promoting inclusivity through the planned introduction of disability fencing.

The federation also emphasized the significance of the event, which will mark the first time the Commonwealth Fencing Championships will be hosted in Lagos and on the African continent.

Organisers believe the competition will not only boost the profile of fencing in Nigeria and Africa but also create lasting opportunities for sports development and international collaboration.
