The directive, which takes effect this week, was disclosed by the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Olufemi Dare.

According to Dare, the restriction is aimed at protecting the newly completed highway from misuse and preventing premature damage, ensuring the road remains in good condition for years to come.

He also stated that indiscriminate parking of trucks and other articulated vehicles will no longer be permitted on the coastal highway or on bridges across Lagos State.

In addition, the ministry has prohibited the dumping of refuse along highway corridors, warning that anyone found violating the directive will face strict enforcement actions.

Dare revealed that traffic signs highlighting the new restrictions have already been installed, while task force personnel will be stationed at strategic points to monitor compliance.

Describing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a world-class infrastructure, he urged motorists and other road users to obey the regulations to promote public safety and preserve the road.

He noted that proper maintenance and responsible use of the highway would help extend its lifespan and ensure Nigerians continue to benefit from the landmark infrastructure project, which is designed to improve transportation and stimulate economic activities along the country’s coastline.
