FG Signs Multi-Billion Naira Road Contracts Across Four States

The Federal Government has signed contracts for the construction and rehabilitation of four major road projects across Kaduna, Oyo, Ogun and Osun states, in a move aimed at boosting infrastructure development and improving transportation across the country.

The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Works in Mabushi, Abuja, where officials confirmed that all the projects will be executed using Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) technology.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, described the projects as key national infrastructure investments designed to enhance connectivity, support economic activities, and improve road durability across regions.

He explained that the administration is focused on delivering long-lasting road infrastructure that can serve Nigerians for decades.

“Our vision is to build roads that will last for generations. Under the Renewed Hope administration, we are determined to deliver infrastructure that can serve Nigerians for up to 100 years through the adoption of rigid pavement (concrete) technology,” Umahi said.

He added that the reconstruction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State was particularly significant, as it formed part of President Bola Tinubu’s campaign commitments during the 2022/2023 election period.

Umahi also commended the contractors selected for the projects, describing them as experienced and capable of delivering quality work, while urging them to immediately mobilise to site and adhere strictly to project timelines.

The projects include the 122-kilometre Mando–Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State, awarded to Messrs J. Patel and Sons Nigeria Limited at a cost of N178.1bn.

Also approved is the dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road, linking Oyo and Ogun states, awarded to Messrs JRB Construction Company Limited for N295.9bn. The project spans 114.5 kilometres in single carriageway equivalent.

In Osun State, Messrs Truecrete Solutions Limited will handle the Osogbo–Ikirun–Akoda Road project valued at N101.8bn, covering about 70 kilometres, while Messrs Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited will execute the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road project worth N114.8bn, stretching 73 kilometres.

The government said the projects are part of ongoing efforts to modernise Nigeria’s road network and improve ease of movement for goods and people across the country.
