FORMER BENUE SSG DIES FROM GUNSHOT INJURIES AFTER SUSPECTED BANDIT ATTACK IN TARABA

Former Benue State Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor David Salifu, has died from gunshot wounds sustained during an attack by suspected bandits along the Wukari–Zaki Biam–Makurdi road in Taraba State.

According to Benue State Government officials, Salifu, who also served as a lecturer at the Federal University Wukari, was attacked by armed men believed to be kidnappers while travelling on the highway.

He reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during the incident but managed to escape before being rushed to a hospital in Benue State for medical treatment. He later died from the injuries.

In a condolence message, the Benue State Government described Salifu as a dedicated public servant, accomplished academic, and respected administrator whose contributions to the development of the state would be remembered.

The government praised his commitment to public service, scholarship, and mentorship, noting that he served with integrity, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility during his tenure as Secretary to the State Government.

It added that his death is a significant loss to his family, the academic community, Benue State, and the nation, while extending condolences to all those affected by his passing.
