FUBARA PROMISES RIVERS SECRETARIAT DELIVERY BY 2027

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced that the ongoing reconstruction of the state secretariat complex in Port Harcourt is expected to be completed and ready for use by the first quarter of 2027.

He made the disclosure on Monday after inspecting the multi-storey facility located in the Old GRA axis of the state capital, according to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ngozi Nwesi.

The governor said the visit was aimed at assessing the level of progress on the project, especially the interior works, after previously observing visible improvements on the exterior of the buildings.

Fubara expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring timely completion of all ongoing projects across the state.

He noted that the renovated secretariat would be delivered within the projected timeline, stressing that his government remains focused on finishing all initiated developments.

The Rivers State Secretariat, originally built in the 1970s, is undergoing a major overhaul that includes several high-rise buildings such as the 17-storey Point Block, the 10-storey Podium Block, and three additional seven-storey blocks.

The renovation project involves structural upgrades, modern office redesign, improved utilities, and the introduction of more efficient and technology-driven administrative systems.

The upgrade is expected to provide a more functional and modern working environment for civil servants in the state.
