FUEL SHORTAGES BITE IN MOSCOW AS UKRAINE TARGETS RUSSIA’S OIL

Fuel shortages are beginning to affect daily life in Moscow as Ukraine intensifies its drone campaign against Russia’s oil and energy infrastructure. Long queues have formed at petrol stations across the Russian capital, with some outlets limiting fuel purchases or temporarily shutting down due to supply constraints.

The shortages follow a series of Ukrainian strikes on key Russian refineries, including the Moscow Oil Refinery, one of the region’s largest fuel suppliers. The facility is expected to remain offline for months after sustaining extensive damage, worsening supply disruptions nationwide.

Russian authorities insist the situation is under control and have introduced measures such as export restrictions, fuel rationing in some areas, and tax changes aimed at boosting domestic supply. Reports also indicate that Moscow is considering fuel imports from neighbouring countries to ease the pressure.

The fuel crunch highlights the growing domestic impact of the war, as Ukraine’s long-range strikes increasingly target infrastructure that supports Russia’s economy and military operations.
