Each of the 19 traditional rulers was also presented with three official vehicles: a GAC Ultra SUV (2025/2026 model), a Mikano ZNA Hilux and an EV Antique Model car.

Speaking at the event, Lawal said the exercise demonstrated his administration’s recognition of the traditional institution as an important partner in promoting peace, stability and development.

He explained that the staffs of office represented the authority and responsibility entrusted to the emirs, urging them to discharge their duties with fairness, wisdom, integrity and compassion.

The governor also called on the traditional rulers to ensure justice, avoid discrimination and make their palaces accessible to all members of their communities.

Lawal further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the remaining royal palaces across the state.

He said the vehicles were provided to ease the emirs’ movements within their respective domains, strengthen community engagement and improve coordination with government institutions.

The governor urged the traditional rulers to maintain the vehicles properly and use them responsibly in carrying out their official responsibilities.

In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, encouraged the newly installed emirs to remain loyal to constituted authority and uphold the dignity of the traditional institution.
