A prominent Nigerian businessman and Chairman of GUO Transport, Chief Godwin Okeke, has donated five classroom blocks to Archbishop Onyemelukwe Grammar School in Oroma-Etiti, Anam, located in Anambra West Local Government Area, as part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure in rural communities.

The donation was unveiled during a joint celebration marking his 77th birthday and his wife, Lady Patricia Obiageli Okeke’s 72nd birthday, held alongside a thanksgiving service at All Saints Anglican Church in the area.
Okeke said the project was driven by his belief that education remains the foundation of sustainable development, adding that many schools in Anam still struggle with inadequate facilities such as classrooms, desks, laboratories, and sanitation infrastructure.

He called on wealthy individuals, corporate organisations, and community stakeholders to support the development of secondary education through donations, scholarships, and school renovation projects, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in nation-building.
As part of his broader intervention, Okeke also announced a ₦100 million scholarship and education support initiative for communities in Anam, to be disbursed over five years, alongside plans to establish an agrarian storage facility to support local farmers and reduce post-harvest losses.

He explained that the gesture was not just a birthday celebration but a deliberate effort to draw attention to the educational challenges facing rural communities in Anambra West and to encourage investment in human capital development.
Okeke also expressed appreciation to philanthropist Chief Daniel Chukwudozie, who contributed ₦50 million toward the church project associated with the event.

Religious and traditional leaders present at the ceremony commended the donation, describing it as a meaningful contribution to community development and a model of private-sector involvement in education.
The Bishop of Niger East, Rt. Revd. Obiora Uzochukwu, described the gesture as an act of service to both God and humanity, while the traditional ruler of Ivite-Anam Kingdom, Igwe Sunday Ozoemena, praised the initiative for improving learning conditions and inspiring further community support.

The event also featured the foundation laying of a new church building and the formal commissioning of the newly constructed classroom blocks
