#How 137 Kaduna school students were rescued – Defence Headquarters

A statement from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) said that the rescue operation of the students in Kuriga, Kaduna State was carried out through a coordinated effort by the military, local authorities, and government agencies. A total of 137 people – 76 females and 61 males – were rescued in Zamfara State and would be transported and handed over to the Kaduna State Government for further action. The DHQ also noted that earlier, on March 21, troops rescued 16 almajiris (pupils) and a woman who were being held hostage in Gada Local Government Area, Sokoto State. The hostages were handed over to the Sokoto State Government. These rescue efforts, according to the DHQ, show the armed forces’ determination to find other hostages and track down the terrorists who perpetrated these crimes. It added that the efforts will continue until all hostages are found and the terrorists are arrested, tried, and brought to justice. The DHQ also assured that the perpetrators of the killing of 18 soldiers in Okuama, Delta State, would not go unpunished.

The DHQ further stated that the security agencies are working tirelessly to maintain peace and security in the country and assured that the sacrifices of the men and women of the armed forces in protecting the nation will not be in vain. It called on the public to continue to support and cooperate with the security agencies in their efforts to ensure peace and stability in the country. The DHQ also called on the media to exercise caution in their reportage of security-related issues and avoid creating panic or promoting narratives that may undermine national security. It also called on the media to report incidents accurately and objectively, and to avoid sensationalism or inflammatory language.

The DHQ reminded the public that the security agencies are doing their best to protect the country, and that together, we can make Nigeria safe and secure for all. It urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or individuals to the security agencies. It further urged the public to refrain from spreading false information or inciting violence, and to work together to ensure a safe and secure Nigeria. The DHQ assured that the security agencies are working tirelessly to create a safe and secure environment for all Nigerians to live and thrive. It urged the public to remain confident and supportive of the security agencies as they work to keep the nation safe.
