The suspects, identified as Chijioke Wisdom, 26, and Chigozie, 43, were intercepted by authorities after intelligence reports indicated that a consignment of narcotics was to be delivered in the area.

According to reports, police laid an ambush and arrested the duo around 10:30 p.m. while they were allegedly moving on a scooter. A search of their possession reportedly led to the recovery of cocaine, MDMA, and methaqualone in varying quantities.

Authorities stated that the substances recovered included a commercial quantity of cocaine alongside other controlled drugs, triggering charges under India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Preliminary investigations also revealed that both individuals were allegedly residing in India without valid visas at the time of their arrest. One of the suspects is said to be from Lagos, while the other hails from Imo State in Nigeria.

Indian police say investigations are ongoing to trace the wider drug network, identify suppliers, and uncover possible accomplices linked to the operation.
