#Inna Galadima emerges first elected female local government chairman in Borno

Hajiya Inna Galadima, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has made history by becoming the chairman-elect of Jere Local Government Area (LGA) in Borno, making her the first elected council chairperson in the state. Fanta Baba Shehu was the first female LG chairperson in the state, elected as a vice chairman under the defunct United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) and later succeeded her chairman after he passed away. Inna Galadima, a former Commissioner and Special Adviser, was declared the winner of the election by the Returning Officer of Jere LGA, Prof. Mohammed Konto. Konto announced that Galadima secured 110,459 votes, defeating her closest rival, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 2,478 votes. Furthermore, the APC swept all the chairmanship seats across the 27 local government areas in the council elections held on Saturday. The party also won all the councillorship seats in the 312 wards of the state. These results were announced in Maiduguri.Breaking news Headline
