The Ogun State Police Command says it has arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Madam Kitan Oyesiku (1958 to 2026), and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, marking a significant breakthrough in one of the state’s most shocking recent homicide investigations.
Addressing journalists at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni disclosed that the arrests followed intensive intelligence gathering, technical tracking operations and forensic analysis carried out by detectives assigned to the case. He said the investigation also led to the recovery of the deceased’s stolen Lexus RX 330 vehicle, which had been taken from the crime scene after the attack.

BREAKING: Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has visited the murder scene of retired OGTV broadcaster, Madam Kitan Oyesiku, assuring residents that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. Police confirmed the arrest of three suspects, recovery of the victim’s stolen vehicle and ongoing interrogation of neighbours as investigations intensify. The intelligence-driven probe continues as detectives pursue every lead to identify all those connected with the brutal killing and ensure they face the full weight of the law.

According to the police, officers responding to a distress report on June 21 found signs of forced entry at the residence. The body of the security guard was discovered inside the security post, while Madam Oyesiku was found dead in the main building. Detectives immediately processed the scene for forensic evidence and launched a coordinated investigation.
Police said the principal suspect, identified as 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Abeokuta. Subsequent operations led to the arrest of two additional suspects—Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer—who investigators allege were recruited to participate in the attack. The Commissioner said the principal suspect made a confessional statement alleging that he planned the attack over grievances arising from his previous employment as a security guard for the deceased. Police further alleged that the suspects overpowered the victim’s security guard before attacking Madam Oyesiku and fleeing with her vehicle. These allegations will ultimately be tested in court, and all three suspects remain entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

Investigators also recovered several exhibits, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a wooden plank and other materials believed to be relevant to the investigation. The Commissioner stressed that inquiries remain ongoing and that detectives are working to consolidate all available evidence before prosecution.
The swift progress recorded in the case highlights the increasing emphasis on intelligence-led policing within the Nigeria Police Force. Modern homicide investigations depend not only on eyewitness testimony but also on forensic science, technical surveillance, crime scene preservation, digital tracking and community intelligence. Security analysts note that prompt evidence collection and coordinated follow-up operations significantly improve the likelihood of identifying suspects and securing successful prosecutions.
The killing of Madam Kitan Oyesiku, a respected media professional whose death shocked colleagues, friends and the wider Ogun community, also underscores the importance of sustained public cooperation with law enforcement. Information supplied by residents often provides investigators with critical leads capable of exposing criminal conspiracies.

While the arrests represent an important milestone, the investigation is not yet complete. The focus now shifts from arrest to prosecution, where the evidence gathered by investigators will be subjected to judicial scrutiny.
For the family of Madam Oyesiku and her late security guard, justice will not be measured solely by the number of suspects arrested, but by a diligent investigation, a fair trial and accountability for everyone found responsible for this tragic crime.
The Ogun State Police Command has assured the public that it remains committed to ensuring that no individual connected with the killings escapes justice, reinforcing public confidence in an increasingly proactive and intelligence-driven approach to policing.
National Patriots extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Madam Kitan Oyesiku, especially her beloved sister, Mrs. Dupe Olurin, the Ogun State Government, the OGTV family, the Queen’s College Old Girls’ Association (QCOGA), Holy Child College Old Girls, friends and associates on this painful loss. Remembered for her warmth, kindness and gentle spirit, Madam Oyesiku touched many lives through her humility and professionalism. We pray that Almighty God grants her eternal rest and gives her family and all who mourn her the strength, comfort and grace to bear this irreparable loss. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Good day, gentlemen of the press.
I, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, wish to brief the general public on the progress made in the investigation into the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku and her security guard, one Pelumi Adetayo ‘m’ aged 38 years.
On 21st June, 2026, at about 1600hrs, a report was received at Owode-Egba Police Station regarding suspicious circumstances at the residence of one Madam Olakitan Oyesiku. Preliminary information indicated that the front door of the residence had been partially damaged while the security house within the compound was found locked, prompting immediate police intervention.
Police detectives were immediately mobilised to the scene. Upon gaining access to the premises, the lifeless body of Pelumi Adetayo ‘m’ aged 38 years, the security guard, was discovered inside the security house, while the body of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku was found lying in a pool of blood within the living room of the main building.
The crime scene was scientifically processed. Preliminary investigation further revealed that a Lexus RX 330 vehicle belonging to the deceased was missing from the compound, raising suspicion of robbery and murder.
Consequently, the Command launched intensive investigation, intelligence gathering, and technical tracking operations aimed at identifying those responsible and recovering the missing vehicle.

Acting on credible intelligence and technical tracking analysis, operatives of the Command successfully traced and recovered the missing Lexus RX 330 vehicle belonging to the deceased on 22nd June, 2026. Although the ignition key had been removed and the registration number plates detached from the vehicle, detectives recovered the vehicle’s registration plate concealed underneath one of the seats, which enabled investigators to positively identify and confirm the vehicle as the property of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku.
One critical piece of evidence recovered from the scene was a handwritten note apparently left behind by the perpetrators. The note was subjected to forensic examination and analysis, which generated valuable investigative leads that significantly aided detectives in identifying and tracing those responsible for the crime.
Further intelligence gathering and painstaking investigation led to the identification and arrest of the principal suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip ‘m’ aged 22 years, on 24th June, 2026, at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.
Further follow-up operations by detectives of the Command led to the successful arrest of Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola ‘m’ aged 27 years, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho ‘m’ aged 36 years, a bricklayer, thereby bringing into custody all identified suspects directly linked to the criminal conspiracy.
During interrogation, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip made a confessional statement, admitting his involvement in the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku. He further disclosed that he had recruited Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola ‘m’ aged 27 years, and Sobu Obafunsho ‘m’ aged 36 years to participate in the crime.
According to his confessional statement, the suspect planned and coordinated the attack following grievances with the deceased during the period he worked as a security guard in her employment.
The suspect stated that the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku was intended to “teach her a lesson”.

The suspects carried out the act on Saturday, 20th June, 2026, in the afternoon. According to the statement, they first overpowered the security guard, Pelumi Adetayo ‘m’ aged 38 years, and used him to gain access to the residence. Upon gaining entry, they attacked Madam Olakitan Oyesiku and subsequently murdered the security guard.
After committing the crime, the suspects fled the scene with the deceased’s Lexus RX 330 vehicle, which was later recovered through intelligence-led and technical tracking operations at Onikolobo area of Ogun state.
The criminal conspiracy involving Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip ‘m’ aged 22 years, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola ‘m’ aged 27 years, and Sobu Obafunsho ‘m’ aged 36 years, ultimately resulted in the tragic deaths of both Madam Olakitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo ‘m’ aged 38 years.
Following the suspects’ confessional statements, detectives conducted further searches at locations linked to them. During the operation, a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, a black pen, and other relevant exhibits connected to the investigation were recovered.
The Ogun State Police Command wishes to emphasise that while the suspects have made useful statements and substantial evidence has been recovered in the course of the investigation, all suspects remain entitled to due process under the law. Investigation is ongoing to consolidate all available evidence and ensure diligent prosecution of all suspects connected with the crime.
The Command remains committed to ensuring that justice is served and that all persons connected with this heinous crime are brought to book.
Thank you for your attention.
