Intervene in Dangote refinery’s diesel price – APC chieftain Oyintiloye urges Tinubu

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the possible downward review of the pump price of diesel produced by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. Oyintiloye made this appeal while conversing with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, expressing concern that the N1,225 pump price set by the refinery was too high.

He emphasized that there should be a significant difference between the pump price of imported diesel and that of an indigenous refinery. Oyintiloye stated that Nigerians expected the Dangote refinery to lower the pump price of diesel and other petroleum products, rather than increasing it.

The former lawmaker referred to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria’s claim that the landing cost of the product is at N1,250 per liter due to the Naira’s appreciation against the dollar. This further highlights the need for the president’s intervention in the pump price of the local refinery.

Oyintiloye noted that since the product is being produced locally without the costs associated with importing the commodity into Nigeria, the price should be cheaper than imported diesel. He acknowledged the happiness of Nigerians regarding the commencement of the Dangote Refinery’s operations and commended Alhaji Aliko Dangote for the project, which is beneficial for the nation’s economy.
