Iran’s national football team expressed appreciation to Los Angeles by leaving a handwritten note in their locker room after a 0-0 draw with Belgium in their 2026 World Cup Group G clash.
The message, left inside the SoFi Stadium dressing room, thanked the city for its hospitality and reflected pride in the team’s performance and national identity. It also carried themes of respect, unity, and goodwill toward supporters and other nations.

The result against Belgium helped keep Iran’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stages alive, with the team showing strong defensive discipline throughout the match.
Iran has faced unique logistical challenges during the tournament, including being based outside the United States and travelling to match venues due to restrictions affecting their stay. Despite this, the squad has continued to compete strongly on the pitch.
The handwritten note, later shared by the country’s football federation, highlighted gratitude toward Los Angeles and its fans, while emphasising that the team competed with honour and left with dignity.
Iran now turn their attention to their final group-stage match as they continue their push for qualification.
