ISWAP CAPTURES 18 WIVES OF BOKO HARAM AS THEY ENGAGE IN BLOODY FIGHT IN BORNO

Fresh violence has broken out between two rival terrorist factions, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), also known as Boko Haram, in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources said the clash occurred at a location known as “Markas” on April 28 at about 3:41 p.m., marking another escalation in the long-running rivalry between the groups.

According to the sources, ISWAP fighters reportedly captured 18 spouses of JAS members during the confrontation. The incident is believed to be part of ongoing hostilities that have led to losses on both sides, including dependents.

Intelligence reports indicate that the infighting is affecting coordination among the factions, potentially weakening their overall operational strength in the region.

Security operatives are said to be closely monitoring the situation, with expectations that troops in the area may take advantage of the internal conflict to intensify operations against the groups.

Authorities say further updates will be provided as developments unfold.
