In the Name of ALLAAH,the Beneficent,the Merciful
TOPIC : REFRESHING OUR MEMORIES ON THE MONTH OF RAJAB
●All adoration to the Creator of the World- ALLAAH(SWT).He fashioned out day and night for counting to know weeks, months and years:
خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضَ بِالۡحَقِّ ۚ يُكَوِّرُ الَّيۡلَ عَلَى النَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ النَّهَارَ عَلَى الَّيۡلِ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمۡسَ وَالۡقَمَرَؕ كُلٌّ يَّجۡرِىۡ لِاَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّىؕ اَلَا هُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الۡغَفَّارُ ۞
“He has created the heavens and the earth with precision. He folds the day up over the night, and folds the night up over the day. He has subjugated the sun and moon, (so that) each runs its appointed course. Is He not all-mighty and forgiving?”
(Quran:Chapter 39,Verse 5).
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Leader of Mankind- Muhammad(SAW).In the next one or two days,we shall witness the month of Rajab,hence shall be our focus for discussion in today’s edition.
● Rajab is the 7th month of Islamic Calendar Year and one of the 4 Holy months in Islam,others are Dhul-Qada Dhul-Hijjah and Muharram.
Battles are prohibited and engaging in warfare is also considered blasphemous in these months.Therefore, one must refrain from committing any wrongs during these sacred months.Let us draw inspiration from the words of Allah in the Holy Qur’an:
اِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُوۡرِ عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ اثۡنَا عَشَرَ شَهۡرًا فِىۡ كِتٰبِ اللّٰهِ يَوۡمَ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضَ مِنۡهَاۤ اَرۡبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ الدِّيۡنُ الۡقَيِّمُ ۙ فَلَا تَظۡلِمُوۡا فِيۡهِنَّ اَنۡفُسَكُمۡ ؕ وَقَاتِلُوا الۡمُشۡرِكِيۡنَ كَآفَّةً كَمَا يُقَاتِلُوۡنَكُمۡ كَآفَّةً ؕ وَاعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الۡمُتَّقِيۡنَ ۞
“The number of months with God is twelve in accordance with God`s law since the day He created the heavens and the earth. Of these four are holy. This is the straight reckoning. So do not exceed yourselves during them; but fight the idolaters to the end as they fight you in like manner; and remember, God is with those Who preserve themselves from evil and do the right.”(Quran:Chapter 9,Verse 36).
●HADITH:
وعن أبي بكرة نفيع بن الحارث رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: ”إن الزمان قد استدار كهيئته يوم خلق الله السموات والأرض: السنة اثنا عشر شهرًا، منها أربعة حرم: ثلاث متواليات: ذو القعدة، وذو الحجة، والمحرم، ورجب مضر الذي بين جمادى وشعبان، “.
Abu Bakrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said,
“Time has completed its cycle and has come to the state of the day when Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year consists of twelve months of which four are inviolable; three of them consecutive – Dhul-Qa’dah, Dhul-Hijjah and Muharram and Rajab, which comes between Jumada Thanni and Sha’ban.
[Bukhari Hadith: 4662]
●The number of days in the month of Rajab is 29 days while atimes it is 30 days.It preceeds the month of Sha’aban which is being followed by Ramadan. “Rajab is the month of Allah and the Prophet’s month is Sha’aban whereas Ramadan is the month of my Ummah[Hadith Bukhari].
● Rajab derived its name from Rajaba(a classical Arabic verb) which means ” to respect”.It is also being referred to as the separate month due to the fact that it stands distinguished from the other 3 sacred months that followed each other sequentially.It is also being referred to as the month of Ibadat.Muslims are being encouraged to be peaceful in this month.We should try to be proactive in acts of prayers,Istigfaar,fasting,Sadaqah,etc.The month of Rajab is also being regarded as a preferred month for Umrah.
● Historical events showed that the 27th of Rajab is believed to be night of Israi and Miraj in which the beloved Prophet Muhammad embarked on the famous night journey that took him to the realms of heaven as he travelled from Makkah to Masjid Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem and then with Angel Jibreel upto the heavens all in one night.
سُبۡحٰنَ الَّذِىۡۤ اَسۡرٰى بِعَبۡدِهٖ لَيۡلًا مِّنَ الۡمَسۡجِدِ الۡحَـرَامِ اِلَى الۡمَسۡجِدِ الۡاَقۡصَا الَّذِىۡ بٰرَكۡنَا حَوۡلَهٗ لِنُرِيَهٗ مِنۡ اٰيٰتِنَا ؕ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ السَّمِيۡعُ الۡبَصِيۡرُ ۞
“Glory to Him who took His votary to a wide and open land from the Sacred Mosque (at Makkah) to the distant Mosque whose precincts We have blessed, that We may show him some of Our signs. Verily He is all-hearing and all-seeing.”
(Quran:Chapter 17,Verse 1)
●In this month of Rajab (during Miraj),Prophet Mohammed was first given the five prescribed daily prayers.He also led the other Prophets in prayer and was given the honor to meet some of them.
●The month of Rajab is a month of planting seeds,Sha’aban is the month of irrigation and Ramadhaan is the month of harvesting”[Abu Bakr Al-Balkhi]

● OUR PRAYER:
Dua For The Month of Rajab:Anas ibn Malik
(radiyallahu ’anhu) reports that Rasulullah ﷺ would recite the following Dua when the Month of Rajab commence:
اَللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي رَجَبٍ وَشَعْبَانَ وَبَلِّغْنَا رَمَضَانَ
“Allahumma baarik lanaa fii Rajab, wa Sha’baan wa ballighnaa Ramadaan.”
“Oh Allah! grant us blessings in the month of Rajab and Shabaan, and make us reach the month of Ramadaan.”[Shu’abul-Imaan Hadith: 3534]
May Allah عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ Grant Us The Ability To Intensify Our Efforts During this month of

_Oh Allah, on this Gracious Day of Jumu’ah *30 Jumadal Thanni 1445 AH*, ALHAMDULILLAH FOR EVERYTHING_ 🙏
*Our Lord* _give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire_
*Oh Allah*, _there is no ease except in that which You have made easy, and You make the difficulty, if You wish, easy_
*Oh Allah*, _we take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men_ (Bukhari)
*Our Lord* _Build for us a home with You in Paradise, and save us from Fir`awn and his work, and save us from the people who are wrongdoers_(Quran 66:11)
*Our Lord*! _Accept ˹this˺ from us. You are indeed the All-Hearing, All-Knowing._👏🙏🤲

The Book of the Prohibited actions – Hadith No: 1685
Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) said:
Jibril (Gabriel) (ﷺ) made a promise with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to come at a definite hour; that hour came but he did not visit him. There was a staff in the hand of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He threw it from his hand and said, “Never does Allah back out of His Promise, nor do His messengers.” Then he noticed a puppy under his bed and said, “O ‘Aishah, when did this dog enter?” She said: “By Allah, I don’t know.” He then commanded that it should be turned out. No sooner than had they expelled it, Jibril came and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him, “You promised to visit me. I waited for you but you did not come.” Whereupon he said: “The dog kept me from coming. We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture.” [Muslim].
وعن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت: واعد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم جبريل عليه السلام في ساعة أن يأتيه، فجاءت تلك الساعة ولم يأته! قالت: وكان بيده عصًا، فطرحها من يده وهو يقول: ما يخلف الله وعده ولا رسله” ثم التفت، فإذا جرو كلب تحت سريره. فقال: ”متى دخل هذا الكلب؟” فقلت: والله ما دريت به، فأمر به فأخرج، فجاءه جبريل عليه السلام: فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : ”وعدتني، فجلست لك ولم تأتني” فقال: منعني الكلب الذي كان في بيتك، إنا لا ندخل بيتًا فيه كلب ولا صورة” ((رواه مسلم)).”
