The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has reacted to the victory of the flag bearer of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Saturday’s presidential election
Speaking during an interview with TVC, the monarch described Tinubu’s victory as a destiny call. He however said he won’t encourage anyone to take the risk that Tinubu took by flying a same-faith presidential ticket. He disclosed that a lot of Christians who were not happy with the ticket made it known that they would rather waste their votes than support it.
In the monarch’s exact words: ” …the time that is right for him to strike and go for the destiny call he went for it and came out successful, although a very troubled water because of the risk. I won’t even encourage any Nigerian to take it again. A very risky Muslim-Muslim ticket because this voting pattern has to do with religious and tribal patterns, let’s be very factual and that was actually what happened across voting patterns.
“Christians voted en masse and they decided to waste their votes, they even said it, that yes it is better to waste their votes if the country will not be sensitive enough to carry us along. But you know God actually created him (Tinubu) to be very liberal, very accommodating, he married a Christian and God sees his heart because God is very with us in this country”.
