The Nigerian Senate has approved a ₦50 million support package for the families of victims who lost their lives during the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the decision during Wednesday’s plenary, describing the deaths as a painful sacrifice in the country’s ongoing battle against insecurity.

Under the approved arrangement, each family of the two teachers killed by the abductors and the three soldiers who died during the rescue operation will receive ₦10 million.

Akpabio said the financial support was meant to assist the affected families while honouring the courage and sacrifices of those who lost their lives during the incident.
The Senate President also praised the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for successfully rescuing the abducted pupils and teachers after more than 50 days in captivity.
