The People’s Democratic Party in Sokoto State has witnessed another political game three days to the governorship and House of Assembly elections scheduled to hold on March 11, 2023.
The women’s leader of the party, Hajiya Kulu Rabah, defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The state leader of the APC, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko reportedly welcomed her to the party.
There are speculations that Sokoto State would be a point of attention for all during the forthcoming elections due to recent development in the state.
The Informant247 earlier reported that the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Sokoto State, Dr. Nura Ali, was suspended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with immediate effect.
The suspension of the REC came days to the governorship and House of Assembly elections, which are scheduled to hold on March 11, 2023.
This was revealed in a letter produced by the Secretary of the electoral commission, Rose Orlaran-Anthony.
The electoral body ordered the REC to stay away from office of the commission in Sokoto State till further notice.
The letter reads: “This is to inform you of the Commission’s decision for you [Dr Nura Ali], Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sokoto State, to stay away from the Commission’s office in Sokoto State immediately until furthermore notice.
“The administrative secretary [Hauwa Aliyu Kangiwa] is directed to take full charge of INEC, Sokoto State office with immediate effects.”
