#JUSTIN: Tragic Loss: Traditional Leader Slain by Terrorists in Kogi State, Nigeria

Armed terrorists have taken the life of Chief Ojo Olayinka, the Elepe of Ohi-Ogidi in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria, as confirmed by the state government.

The Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, expressed the government’s condemnation of this heinous act, emphasizing its commitment to securing the lives and property of Kogi residents.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed security officials to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators, assuring citizens of the state’s determination to maintain security.

Fanwo urged the affected communities to remain calm, discouraging any retaliatory actions and emphasizing the state’s capability to handle security matters.

He extended condolences to the deceased’s family and community, vowing that the government will persist in its commitment to ensuring the safety of its people.

This tragic incident follows recent attacks on traditional rulers in Ekiti and Kwara States.

Notably, a previous arson attack claimed the life of the elder sister of the Attah Igala in Kogi State. The government is actively pursuing justice in these cases.

Additionally, a monarch in Osun State, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi, asserted his resilience against kidnapping or assassination, encouraging fellow monarchs to adopt modern security measures.
