#JUSTIN:Sports Minister Begs Nigerians To Provide Financial Support For Super Eagles Ahead AFCON Final

The Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh, has issued a compelling plea for increased private investment in sports following the outstanding performance of the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Senator Enoh conveyed this appeal to journalists after the Super Eagles secured a 4-2 victory over South Africa, securing their place in the competition’s final.

Highlighting the significant impact of the Nations Cup on national spirit and unity, Enoh emphasized the capacity of sports to bring happiness and joy to the nation.

He urged individuals, private organizations, and the private sector to contribute more to sports investment.

Enoh stated, “The togetherness and unity witnessed in the wake of the Nigerian team’s success at the AFCON serve as a call to action for all Nigerians, corporate entities, and the private sector to recognize sports as an activity that brings happiness and joy to the nation. It makes a compelling case for sustained investment.”

Addressing the ongoing AFCON activities, Enoh emphasized that sponsorship and sports investment should not solely rely on the government, as it offers a platform to connect with the entire Nigerian populace.

He added, “The AFCON is rekindling a renewed sense of identity and pride for our nation.”

Senator Enoh commended President Bola Tinubu for unwavering support, including financial approvals, clearing overdue salaries, bonuses, and other policy backing.

He highlighted President Tinubu’s commitment to attend the final in Abidjan, alongside the previous attendance of the Senate President and Vice President at the quarterfinal and semifinal matches, respectively.

Enoh concluded, “This government has demonstrated support and commitment to what brings happiness to Nigerians in this challenging period.”

The Super Eagles are poised to vie for Nigeria’s fourth Nations Cup trophy in the final against Ivory Coast on Sunday at the Alassane Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan.

The late Stephen Keshi led the Super Eagles to their last Nations Cup triumph in 2013, following victories in 1980 and 1994.
