The Village Head, Hamisu Tukur, confirmed that the storm struck on Monday evening, displacing several residents and causing widespread destruction across the community. He said many homes were either badly damaged or completely levelled by the strong winds that accompanied the downpour.

Residents reported that the rain began around 6:41 p.m. and lasted for about 40 minutes, during which violent winds ripped off rooftops and reduced structures to rubble. Many families have since been left homeless, struggling to recover their belongings from the wreckage.

In nearby Sabon Gyero within Millennium City, also in Chikun LGA, the storm caused further destruction, damaging homes and over 10 perimeter fences. The heavy rainfall also disrupted traffic after a major road was blocked, forcing motorists to take alternative routes.

Affected residents have appealed to the Kaduna State Government, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) for urgent assistance and relief support.

Emergency response teams have begun assessing the extent of the damage, with NEMA deploying officials to evaluate the situation and coordinate response efforts.

Authorities, including the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), have previously warned of increased rainfall intensity this season, raising concerns about possible future flooding and storm-related disasters.
