KANO–MARADI RAIL HITS 60% AS FG TARGETS 2027 COMPLETION

This update was provided by the Resident Engineer of the Federal Ministry of Transportation for Section Two of the project, Ali Bukar, during an inspection visit in Jigawa State by a Presidential Media Team.

The visit, led by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, formed part of a broader assessment of ongoing infrastructure projects in the North-West under the Renewed Hope initiative.

According to officials, construction work is progressing steadily across key sections of the rail corridor, with significant activity on bridges, earthworks, and structural foundations, particularly along the Kano–Dutse axis.

The project engineers noted that superstructure installations are ongoing in multiple locations, while track laying and other core construction works are advancing across the route.

The government attributed the steady progress to continued funding support under President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure development programme, which it says has helped maintain momentum on critical national projects.

Once completed, the rail line is expected to improve transportation links between northern Nigeria and Niger Republic, boost trade, and enhance regional economic integration.

During the inspection tour, the media team also visited several infrastructure projects in Kano and Jigawa States, including flyover construction, irrigation support projects, and agricultural equipment facilities aimed at improving productivity and skills development.
