The Lagos State Government has announced a detailed traffic management plan ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival set for Monday, April 6, 2026, at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) on Lagos Island.

According to the Ministry of Transportation, temporary restrictions will be in place on several major roads around the carnival venue to ensure smooth movement during the event.
Key routes leading to TBS that will be impacted include King George V Road near Mobil Filling Station, Flag House inbound to TBS, Force Road inbound to TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound to TBS, and Waterboy Roundabout by the Old Defence House.

Additionally, all roads connecting to Moloney Road will be closed for the duration of the carnival. This includes Military Road by Old Defence Building, Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street.
To ease the inconvenience, the government has provided designated parking areas for visitors, such as the Yoruba Lawn Tennis Club Car Park, Zone 2 Car Park opposite Island Club along King George V Road, Museum Kitchen Car Park, and The Bell Car Park by Island Maternity.

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, encouraged motorists to plan their journeys in advance and follow the instructions of traffic officials stationed across the affected routes. LASTMA personnel will be on hand at all diversion points to assist and manage traffic flow.

The annual Lagos Fanti Carnival celebrates the city’s Afro-Brazilian heritage and attracts large crowds, making these traffic measures necessary to maintain order and ensure public safety.
