A member of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Henry Ajomale, has vowed that the House of Representatives member representing Oshodi-Isolo II, Okey-Joe Onuakaluasi, will not return to office after the 2027 elections.
Ajomale made the remarks while addressing party members in the constituency following controversies surrounding a recently released list of beneficiaries from the lawmaker’s empowerment programme.
Onuakaluasi had sponsored 29 people for training programmes in areas such as nursing, cyber security and food processing in China and South Africa. However, criticism followed after many observers claimed that most of the beneficiaries appeared to be from the lawmaker’s Igbo ethnic background.
Reacting to the development, Ajomale accused the lawmaker of neglecting the interests of the local Yoruba population in the constituency.

Speaking in Yoruba, the APC chieftain said the party would no longer allow outsiders to take advantage of the political structure in the area.
He said the party was determined to correct what he described as past political mistakes and ensure that the constituency is represented by someone who truly serves the interests of the local people.
Ajomale also blamed internal divisions within the All Progressives Congress for Onuakaluasi’s emergence in the first place, saying party leaders failed to unite at the time.
“We made mistakes before because there were divisions within us, but things are different now. The party is united and ready to support credible candidates,” he said.
He further claimed that previous representatives from the area delivered more benefits to the constituency, unlike the current lawmaker whom he accused of favouring people outside Lagos.
The comments have since sparked reactions online, with some condemning the ethnic tone of the remarks while others defended Ajomale’s position as political frustration over constituency representation.
