Lagos Residents to go 25-Day Blackout Without Electricity — Eko DisCo Announces Power Outage From July 28 to August 21

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced a scheduled power outage lasting 25 days in parts of Lagos State. This was disclosed in a public notice shared via the company’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday.

According to EKEDC, the outage will begin on Monday, July 28, and continue until Thursday, August 21, 2025. The daily blackout is expected to occur between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The distribution company explained that the temporary power disruption is necessary to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out critical maintenance work on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330 kV transmission line.

EKEDC has announced a daily planned power outage from Monday, 28 July, to Thursday, 21 August 2025, due to essential maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330 kV line,” the statement read.

The company added that residents in affected areas should anticipate reduced power supply and intermittent load shedding throughout the maintenance period.
