Lagos State Government to Clear Over 100 Shanties at Adeniji Adele Underbridge Tomorrow
In a bold move aimed at enhancing urban renewal efforts, the Lagos State Government, through the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, has announced plans to remove over 100 shanties at Adeniji Adele underbridge starting tomorrow, May 6th, 2024.
The decision follows the expiration of a 48-hour notice served to occupants of the shanties to vacate the area with their belongings. Mr. Wahab emphasized that enforcement action is necessary to maintain order and safety in the state.
Operatives from the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI/LAGESC) and officials from the Monitoring Enforcement and Compliance (MEC) department of the ministry will be provided with security backup during the operation. This move signals the government’s commitment to improving the urban landscape and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
