A 65-year-old man identified as Chief Augustine Nwalieze has been killed in his residence in the Ajah area of Lagos State in what police are treating as a suspected murder involving his gateman, who is now on the run.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday morning shortly after the victim, who was a manager with Okeyson Transport, prepared to attend church service at his home in Lagos State.

According to family accounts, concern was raised when the deceased could not be reached and none of his vehicles had been moved. Suspicion later grew after the gateman allegedly gave inconsistent explanations about the victim’s whereabouts before disappearing from the compound.

A search of the premises reportedly led to the discovery of the man’s body inside one of the flats within the building. He was said to have suffered machete injuries to his head and body.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.
Family members say the matter has been reported to the police, who have since visited the scene and begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing and the whereabouts of the suspect.
As of now, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued an official statement on the incident.
