#Minister of Power Addresses Challenges Faced by Power Plants; Promises Solutions

The Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, highlighted unpaid debts and low gas supply as key factors hampering the operational capacity of power plants. During his visit to the Olorunshogo Power Plant in Ogun State and the Omotosho Power Plant in Ondo State, Adelabu expressed concern over the under-utilization of these facilities, each operating below 25% capacity. He emphasized the shortage in gas supply as a major factor, pledging efforts to improve operational capacity, repair turbines, and support power plants. Adelabu also addressed the issue of substantial debts owed by generation companies due to electricity subsidies, advocating for cost-reflective tariffs to address liquidity challenges in the sector. He assured ongoing efforts to enhance power supply nationwide.
