MOROCCO NAMES $1BN HIGHWAY AFTER DONALD TRUMP

Morocco has named a major $1 billion highway after United States President Donald Trump.

The highway spans about 1,055 kilometres and extends into the Western Sahara region, a territory at the centre of a long-running sovereignty dispute.

The decision follows Trump’s 2020 recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara while he was serving his first term as U.S. president.

Morocco’s King Mohammed VI praised Trump for the recognition, describing it as a landmark decision that strengthened ties between the two countries.

The highway is expected to improve transportation, boost trade, and enhance connectivity between different parts of Morocco, including the Western Sahara region.
