A distressing incident unfolded as a mother was apprehended for her alarming attempt to end her sick child’s life using Sniper, a potent insecticide. Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the Lagos police command, revealed that the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, alerted the authorities to the harrowing situation on Friday.
According to Hundeyin, the hospital’s chief security officer notified the police that the mother had brought her one-year-and-seven-month-old daughter to seek medical attention. Shockingly, the mother admitted to a doctor at the hospital that she administered Sniper to her child on Sunday when her convulsions persisted relentlessly.
“The mother confessed to giving the liquid to her child in hopes of alleviating her excessive convulsions,” Hundeyin disclosed. “Upon receiving the report, detectives promptly rushed to the hospital, where they found the baby undergoing treatment. Subsequently, the mother was detained for further investigation following the child’s medical intervention.”
