N15tr Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway absolute necessity, says Ashimolowo

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) London, has expressed his support for the N15 trillion, 700-kilometer Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project initiated by the Federal Government. He believes this project is essential due to its strategic economic importance and location. Ashimolowo highlights that approximately 60% of Nigeria’s businesses take place in Lagos alone, and the Southwest, South-South, and South-East regions, which he refers to as “Nigeria’s wealth basin,” suffer from inadequate road infrastructure.

Upon completion, the coastal highway is expected to alleviate traffic on major expressways, facilitate faster movement of goods and people, and contribute to accelerated growth and development in the South and other regions of the country. Ashimolowo also advises the government to address existing poor federal roads while working on the ongoing Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project.

Furthermore, he encourages the government to reduce the cost of governance, implement cost-cutting measures to aid the less fortunate, and consider the Keynesian economic model, where the government helps companies produce in excess, and then purchases the surplus to distribute among the poor.

During a sermon at the 60th birthday celebration of Apostle Lawrence Achudume, founder of Victory Life Bible Church International, Ashimolowo praised Achudume as a learner and teacher who embodies the qualities of a good man with God’s presence. Achudume, in turn, expressed gratitude for the support he has received throughout his life and acknowledged the role of his family, church members, and congregants in his journey. The event also marked the launch of Apostle Achudume’s autobiography, titled “The Man Helped by God.”
