The operation was carried out by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons following intelligence reports on suspicious activities in Keffi and Karu Local Government Areas.

According to the agency, the raid was conducted on May 7, 2026, by its Investigation Department alongside the Intelligence and International Cooperation Unit. Victims discovered at the location included both Nigerians and foreign nationals, with investigators noting that the group was allegedly lured under the pretext of employment in an online marketing firm.

Preliminary findings suggest the suspects used deceptive recruitment tactics to attract victims, who were then held under conditions linked to suspected trafficking and cyber-related exploitation.

NAPTIP described the incident as a serious humanitarian and security concern, stressing that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the network and dismantle the wider criminal operation.

The agency also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious recruitment schemes and unusual activities to relevant authorities.
