Abdullahi Sule, the Governor of Nasarawa State, has endorsed Senator Aliyu Wadada as his preferred candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

The endorsement was reportedly made during a meeting with political appointees at the Government House in Lafia, where the governor signaled support for Wadada’s emergence as the party’s flagbearer.

Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District in the Senate and chairs the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, recently joined the APC from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) amid rising political realignments ahead of the next election cycle.

His governorship ambition is seen as part of a broader zoning consideration within the state, with stakeholders in the western zone pushing for a return of the governorship position. The last governor from that zone was Abdullahi Adamu, who served between 1999 and 2007, while the northern and southern zones have since taken turns producing governors.

The development adds a new dimension to the internal power balance within the APC as preparations intensify for the 2027 governorship contest.
