NATIONAL PATRIOTS: OFFICIAL RECORDS STRENGTHEN CONFIDENCE IN AIG OLOHUNDARE JIMOH’S INTEGRITY, PROFESSIONALISM AND UNWAVERING COMMITMENT TO JUSTICE.

The National Patriots Movement of Nigeria has carefully reviewed the official records and developments surrounding the Ajiran murder investigation and is convinced that the emerging documentary evidence substantially reinforces the reputation of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, as one of Nigeria’s finest and most disciplined police officers.

Congratulations to Lagos CP Moshood Jimoh on his official decoration today as Assistant Inspector General of Police and deployment as AIG Zone 2, Lagos.

At a time when social media narratives increasingly compete with verified facts, Nigerians must resist the temptation to convict public servants in the court of public opinion. Allegations must never take precedence over documentary evidence, due process and the rule of law.

AIG Jimoh is not an unknown figure within Nigeria’s policing architecture. He is a highly decorated officer whose career has been built on professionalism, operational excellence and intelligence-led policing. His distinguished service earned him the National Patriots Award for Outstanding Professional Excellence, Courage, Integrity and Service to the Nation, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to internal security, crime prevention and institutional leadership with integrity. There are few Police officers who could boast of similar qualities and professionalism.

Throughout his career, AIG Jimoh Olohundare earned a reputation as an officer who places duty above personal interest. As Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, he championed proactive intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration and operational policing strategies designed to prevent crime before it occurred rather than merely responding after offences had been committed.

During his tenure, Lagos witnessed sustained police operations against armed robbery, kidnapping syndicates, cult groups and other violent criminal networks. His emphasis on intelligence gathering, strategic deployment of personnel and rapid operational response strengthened public confidence and reinforced Lagos’ position as one of Nigeria’s most effectively policed states.

It is therefore unsurprising that an officer with a reputation for pursuing difficult investigations without fear or favour may occasionally become the subject of criticism from persons dissatisfied with the direction of criminal investigations. Around the world, determined investigators who confront powerful interests often attract intense scrutiny. That reality, however, makes it even more important that judgments be based on evidence rather than emotion.

The official records that have now entered the public domain indicate that the Ajiran murder investigation was conducted pursuant to lawful directives from the Inspector-General of Police and supported by witness statements, investigative findings and judicial processes. They also demonstrate that significant investigative steps were taken within the framework of the law.

The National Patriots welcomes these developments because they reinforce an enduring democratic principle: institutions are strengthened when official actions can be supported by documentary records and subjected to judicial scrutiny.

We equally commend the Centre for Human and Socio-Economic Rights (CHSR) for its balanced intervention—supporting the professionalism of the investigation while urging every officer connected with the matter to maintain strict neutrality and respect for due process. Such balanced civic engagement strengthens, rather than weakens, Nigeria’s justice system.

The National Patriots also recognises that the criminal proceedings remain before competent courts. Every accused person is constitutionally entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, just as every investigating officer deserves to have allegations against him assessed fairly on the basis of credible evidence.

Nigeria needs more law enforcement leaders whose loyalty is to the Constitution, the law and the Nigerian people—not to intimidation, influence or public pressure. Professional policing requires courage, discipline, integrity and the willingness to make difficult decisions in the national interest.

The National Patriots therefore expresses its confidence in AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh’s professional record and urges all Nigerians to allow the courts to determine the issues before them without prejudice or interference. We equally encourage the Nigeria Police Force to continue supporting officers who demonstrate integrity, discipline, operational competence and zero tolerance for crime.

History consistently honours public servants who stand firmly on the side of justice despite pressure and controversy. If Nigeria is to build stronger institutions capable of defeating violent crime and protecting innocent citizens, then officers who faithfully discharge their constitutional responsibilities deserve fairness, public confidence and the full protection of the rule of law.
