NEYMAR MAKES BRAZIL’S 2026 WORLD CUP SQUAD AS FULL LIST EMERGES

Neymar Returns as Brazil Name Star-Studded World Cup Squad

Brazilian football superstar Neymar has made a sensational return to the national team after nearly three years away, as coach Carlo Ancelotti unveiled his 26-man squad for the upcoming World Cup.

The 34-year-old forward, Brazil’s all-time top scorer with 79 goals in 128 appearances, was the headline inclusion in a squad revealed at a ceremony in Rio de Janeiro on Monday, where his name was met with loud cheers from fans and officials.

Neymar has not featured for Brazil since suffering a serious knee injury during a 2023 World Cup qualifier against Uruguay. Since then, a combination of fitness struggles and inconsistent form had kept him out of the national team setup.

His return marks a major turnaround after being left out of recent squads, including March friendlies against France and Croatia, due to concerns over his physical condition.

However, the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain forward has impressed since returning to his boyhood club Santos earlier this year, prompting Ancelotti to reconsider his place in the team.

Brazil, who are chasing a record-extending sixth World Cup title, will begin their campaign against Morocco on June 13, before facing Haiti and Scotland in Group C.

Ancelotti’s squad features a strong blend of experienced players and rising stars across all departments.

In goal, Liverpool’s Alisson, Fenerbahce’s Ederson, and Grêmio’s Weverton were selected.

The defensive unit includes Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães, Bremer, Danilo, and Alex Sandro, among others.

In midfield, Brazil will rely on the experience of Casemiro and Bruno Guimarães, alongside Lucas Paquetá and Fabinho.

The attacking lineup is headlined by Neymar, Vinícius Júnior, Raphinha, and rising star Endrick, giving Brazil a formidable front line as they prepare for the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Neymar’s return is expected to boost morale and add experience to a squad widely seen as one of the favourites for the competition.
