Senator Akume noted that the administration is aware of the difficulties Nigerians are facing, including rising insecurity, kidnappings, and economic pressure, and assured that government is actively working to reduce these burdens through sustained policy action and democratic governance.

He emphasised that 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule since 1999 reflects the resilience of Nigerians and paid tribute to pro-democracy activists who played key roles in the June 12 struggle.

On security, he reiterated that the government remains determined not to yield to terror or criminal intimidation, adding that security agencies are being strengthened and supported to protect lives and restore stability across the country.

He also urged Nigerians, particularly young people, to reject violence, hate speech, and political manipulation as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections, calling for peaceful participation and national unity.

The service was attended by top government officials, including the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, and other senior figures.
