‘NO DOCUMENT, NO MANIFESTO’ – TINUBU PRESIDENCY SAYS PETER OBI’S NDC LACKS CLEAR PROGRAMMES AHEAD OF 2027

Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress, accusing the party of lacking a clear agenda for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released on Friday, Onanuga described the NDC as a gathering point for politicians seeking relevance, while questioning the party’s preparedness to lead the country if elected into power.

His remarks come amid growing public attention on the party following the reported movement of prominent politicians, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, from the African Democratic Congress to the NDC.
According to Onanuga, the NDC has not shown Nigerians any concrete policy direction that clearly separates it from other opposition parties. He stated that after visiting the party’s official website to review its proposed plans for governance, he was unable to access any manifesto despite links directing users to download one.

He said repeated attempts to obtain the document returned a “No document found” response, raising concerns about the party’s readiness to present a structured vision for the country.
The presidential aide also questioned the ideological claims being promoted by the NDC ahead of the 2027 elections, noting that the party had yet to publicly present a detailed roadmap since receiving official registration earlier this year.
Onanuga further argued that the few policy ideas currently displayed on the party’s website were too vague to be considered a strong governance framework. He claimed the points resembled general political statements rather than concrete programmes capable of addressing Nigeria’s challenges.

Despite his criticism, Onanuga said he still looked forward to seeing the party eventually unveil a comprehensive mission and vision for Nigerians ahead of the next presidential election.
