OBASANJO’S SON JOINS TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN, APPOINTED MOVEMENT ADVISER

Olujuwon Obasanjo, son of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has been appointed Special Adviser on Political Affairs to the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a group mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Olujuwon announced his support for Tinubu during a visit to the movement’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, where he was received by its National Coordinator, Sunday Adekanbi Asuku.

He described his appointment as an honour and privilege, commending the organisation for its grassroots mobilisation, community outreach and efforts to promote the activities of the Federal Government.

The former president’s son said he had been following the movement’s activities and was impressed by its work. He added that he was prepared to contribute his experience towards achieving its objectives and securing Tinubu’s re-election.

According to him, President Tinubu has made a good start, stressing the need for Nigerians, particularly young people, to support the administration’s ongoing reforms and ensure continuity in governance.

Olujuwon identified salary payments, infrastructure development and investment opportunities as areas where the country had recorded progress, adding that the gains should be sustained.

He expressed confidence that continued support for the president would enable his administration to consolidate its achievements and deliver more benefits to Nigerians.

He also disclosed that he had been a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2014.

Addressing possible political differences within his family, Olujuwon explained that members of the Obasanjo family were free to hold independent political views and pursue their political interests without hostility.

Earlier, Asuku welcomed Olujuwon into the movement, describing him as an experienced political figure with a strong background in leadership and governance.

He expressed confidence that the younger Obasanjo’s political experience and understanding of grassroots mobilisation would strengthen the organisation and expand its activities across the country.

Asuku added that the movement was pleased to have him on board, noting that his decision to join demonstrated his willingness to contribute to Nigeria’s development.

He said the organisation expected Olujuwon to deploy his knowledge and experience towards advancing its objectives.
