#Ogun State Approves Reconstruction of 11 More Roads Across Senatorial Districts

The Ogun State Government has approved the reconstruction of 11 additional roads across the state’s three senatorial districts. This decision was part of the resolutions reached at the State Executive Council meeting held over the weekend, presided over by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Among the major projects approved is the 9.2 km Akute Bridge to Agbado (Lateef Jakande) Train Terminal/Pass/Agbado Bridge road. The project also includes the construction of laybys and adjoining roads to improve connectivity.

Other roads approved for reconstruction include:

  • Iperu Junction to Ilishan Roundabout (Gateway International Airport Road) – 5.5 km
  • Imasayi-Igan Okoto-Ayetoro Road Phase 2B – 4 km
  • Imasayi (end of phase 1) to Igan Okoto, Phase 2A – 3 km
  • Gao Junction to Ibiade Road – 3.8 km
  • Abeokuta Obalende-Ijebu Ode Road – 2.75 km
  • Osinubi New Road (Araromi Street), Ijebu Ode – 1.1 km
  • Tam Balogun Road, Ijebu Ode – 0.85 km
  • Federal College Road, Odogbolu – 2.93 km
  • General Hospital – Aferiku Road, Ipokia – 2.8 km
  • Oke Erinja to Ilobi Road, Phase 2 – 1.7 km

Governor Abiodun, while commissioning the 3.12 km Oke Erinja to Erinja Road, reiterated his administration’s commitment to completing road projects that boost economic activities. He assured residents that the reconstruction of the road will extend to Ilobi, emphasizing its importance to the state’s agricultural sector.

“The Ilobi and Oke-Erinja areas are among our food baskets, and we have prioritized their road infrastructure. It was never our intention to stop at Oke-Erinja. I have heard multiple times that the people of Erinja and Ilobi are like Siamese twins, and we will not separate them,” Abiodun stated.

Additionally, the governor pledged to award the contract for the reconstruction of the 17 km Sango-Ijoko-Akute Road within the week. He noted that completing this road is essential for linking Ogun West and Ogun Central to Lagos.

“In the last two weeks, we have visited Ifo Local Government multiple times because of the large number of people who commute between Ogun and Lagos daily. The Sango-Ijoko-Akute Road is a critical artery, and we are prioritizing its reconstruction to ensure better connectivity,” he added.

The newly approved projects are part of the state’s broader infrastructural development plan to enhance road networks and ease movement across Ogun State.
