Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has reacted to reports concerning the health condition of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following claims that the former Anambra State governor was physically exhausted from his demanding political engagements.
Onanuga, in a post on his X account on Tuesday, November 3, described Obi as an ordinary human being who, like everyone else, could fall ill.

While wishing the former governor a speedy recovery, the presidential aide also expressed doubts about the chances of the NDC candidate in the 2027 presidential election.
“So, Saint Peter Obi is not a Superman after all. He can fall ill like all mortals. I wish him a quick recovery so he can rejoin what looks like another doomed presidential campaign,” Onanuga wrote.
His reaction followed comments by Sam Omale, Deputy Campaign Spokesperson of the NDC, who disclosed that Obi had been experiencing physical exhaustion due to his demanding political schedule and frequent travels between different locations.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Omale dismissed concerns about the presidential candidate’s health, insisting that there was nothing medically wrong with him.

According to Omale, Obi’s commitment to his political activities and tendency to handle several responsibilities simultaneously had contributed to his exhaustion, leaving him with insufficient time to rest.
He explained that the former governor frequently travelled between cities within short periods, while also attending to meetings, answering questions and responding to emails.

Omale further disclosed that members of Obi’s team had been encouraging him to get adequate sleep and take time to rest.
He, however, maintained that the exhaustion would not affect the party’s political activities or ongoing preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, another NDC spokesperson, Osa Director, reportedly said he was unaware of any health-related incident involving Obi, maintaining that the presidential candidate was in good health based on his recent interaction with him in Bayelsa State.
